One Earth Acupuncture

Rediscover What “Healthy” Feels Like

Most people have forgotten what it feels like to be truly healthy. To live without pain. To sleep well at night and have energy throughout the day. To have balance and clarity. To be able to process stress. Many are discouraged by repeated doctor visits and tests that produce no answers and prescription medication that produce no meaningful improvement.

One Earth Acupuncture empowers you to better understand and become an active participant in your own health. Through examination and discussion of your health history and experiences, we always provide a diagnosis by connecting the dots between your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. These connections and patterns are different for each individual, so the treatment plan we recommend will be personalized to align with your health goals.

Why Community Acupuncture?

We want to eliminate cost as a roadblock to acupuncture in healthcare. The group setting allows for lower fees. Our sliding scale fee is $30-$60 for follow-up visits. Pay what you can with no questions asked. You’ll receive the same level of personalized care regardless of how much you pay.

At One Earth Acupuncture, you’ll meet privately with your acupuncturist before being taken to the Community Room, where you’ll relax in a comfortable recliner, fully clothed. Although the treatment space is shared, the treatment plan is always personalized.

Founder and Sole Practitioner

Meet Evelynne Toth, L.Ac.

How does someone with a degree in industrial engineering who has worked for helicopter and automotive companies become an acupuncturist? Evelynne’s journey began with the realization that she felt unfulfilled in her previous line of work. She enjoyed her work but was weary from obstacles that prevented her from advancing in her career. When a good friend had a fantastic experience with acupuncture to treat rheumatoid arthritis, Evelynne decided to give it a try.

She found that acupuncture not only relieved her stress, but recharged her spirit and helped her gain a deeper sense of self. Inspired by her experience, she made the decision to study acupuncture and begin four years of formal education. She graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine with a Master of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine and a Bachelor of Professional Studies.

As a student, she met Lisa Rohleder, founder of the People’s Organization of Community Acupuncture (POCA). Evelynne knew immediately that she wanted to adopt the community acupuncture and social business model for her practice. She wanted to focus on public health over profit and make acupuncture accessible and affordable to everyone. And she wanted to establish her practice in Bordentown, her hometown community. In 2009, she opened One Earth Acupuncture as one of the first community acupuncture centers in New Jersey.

Influences and Expertise

From 2008 to 2012, Evelynne studied with Virginia Sandlin, a Cherokee Indian mystic who developed the Sandlin Technique. Virginia’s teachings emphasized, among other things, the body’s physiological response to emotional dysfunction and influenced Evelynne both professionally and personally.

Additional training, certifications, and philosophies that Evelynne applies to treatment include:

The Meaning of “One Earth”

Evelynne was fascinated by the symbolism captured in early acupuncture teachings that date back thousands of years. The name “One Earth” came to her during a time of reflection, which often happened on the train between Bordentown and New York City while commuting to and from school.

During Evelynne’s final year of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) education, her self-titled label changed from “Chinese Medicine Warrior” to “One Earth.” Each person has one body – your own “one earth.” You don’t get a “do over,” so you have to take care of the body you have. TCM views the human body holistically as a single being that needs to be balanced to function at an optimal level. Earth is one of the five elements in TCM, along with water, wood, fire, and metal, all of which affect an individual’s health by constantly moving and changing.

The ginkgo leaf in the One Earth Acupuncture logo represents the stamina, endurance, history, wisdom, and medicinal potential of the ginkgo, the oldest tree in the world. We view the transcendent ginkgo as an aspirational symbol for humans seeking to overcome challenges in life.
